The Assistant Manager is the first story boss, and most likely the first boss enemy the player will encounter. It is the last challenge of the Black Anthill area. It cannot be re-summoned after being defeated.

Defeating the Assistant Manager is required to access the end of the Black Anthill Lab and obtain the Super Chip. Defeating the Assistant Manager will also cause various upper yard creatures will start to spawn in their respective raids, being Ladybirds in Ladybug raids, Ladybird Larvae in Larvae raids, Tiger Mosquitoes in Mosquito raids, and Green Shield Bugs in Stinkbug raids.

Boss Fight[]

Phase 1[]

Once the fight starts, the Assistant Manager will spawn with 2 TAYZ.Ts and land in the arena. In this phase, it only has 2 attacks, a longer-charged shot and quick shot, similar to the ARC.R. The minions it spawns won't respawn until the next phase starts.

Phase 2[]

At 75% health, the Assistant Manager will enter phase 2, in which 1 ARC.R and 2 TAYZ.Ts will spawn from above. In this phase, it gains access to its laser attack, in which it screams while it charges a yellow spark in its cannon and slams the ground. Once slammed, the middle laser pillar will activate and they will start rotating. 2 of the lasers have lasers that need to be ducked, and the other 1 needs to be jumped over. Both variants rotate opposite of the other variant, leading to the player needing to pay attention to the lasers location.

Phase 3[]

When at 50% health, the Assistant Manager will enter phase 3, in which a last ARC.R and 2 TAYZ.Ts will spawn from above. In this phase, it gains access to its shock pillar attacks, which activation is similar to the laser pillar attack, but with a blue spark. When the Assistant Manager activates them, the four pillars activate, covering a good portion of the arena in a damaging static aura that will shock the player. The safe areas form a plus around the arena, as well as against the window and back wall. The boss can also stack this attack with the laser pillar, making the fight very hectic very quickly.

Strategy[]

The Assistant Manager can be considered much easier than the Hedge Broodmother, but is still a formidable threat nonetheless. Some tips for fighting it include.

  • Use stamina and health potions such as the Boost Juice or Fuzz on the Rocks
  • Grumble's Granola Bars can be a useful healing item due to the large amount of them within close proximity of the area
  • Consider using a busting weapon such as the Insect Hammer.
    • If using a hammer, consider investing in the Smasher mutation.
  • The salty augment will do extra damage to the boss. This is only possible with arrows, since you need to defeat the Assistant Manager to unlock elemental weapon creation.
  • If using a one-handed weapon, a shield such as the Black Ant Shield can be very useful to block the static charge attacks and deflect them.
  • Be sure to focus on minions when they spawn as they can be very dangerous during the lasers or electric attacks.
  • During the shock pillar, standing against the window or back wall is recommended to avoid the shock pillars aura, and moving forward in the right spot to duck/jump over the laser pillar.
  • Staggering it while he is about to activate the lasers or the towers with the Coup de Grass or Chopper Mutations can prove extremely useful due to how it will cancel the attack and will go into a cooldown before it can use it again
  • By the third phase, the field of view may be too limited in first person-mode. Switching to third-person may help keep eyes on all the action
  • By leading Black Soldier Ants into the battle arena and starting it will cause the ants to attack the robots.
  • If desperate, bring ant eggs. Lots of ant eggs. They can distract the boss a lot.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being weak to Sour and Salty, it is mostly impossible to get a weapon augmented with either element before fight, except for arrows.
  • Some whiteboards in the Black Anthill Lab, seem to indicate the Asst. Manager is actually extremely stupid, and may be aggressive due to being hacked by a external source.
  • The keycard it drops hints that the Assistant Manager is merely an upgraded version of a regular ARC.R.
  • The Assistant Manager looks noticeably bored, most likely being a joke from the developers.
