The Black Worker Ant is a creature found around the western sections of the yard and the sheds porch. They are slightly stronger than Red Worker Ant but behave in a very similar way.

Behavior[]

Black Worker Ants move somewhat quickly on the ground, wandering aimlessly as they hunt smaller creatures and search for large and rotten foods. Black Worker Ants pick up food items and sometimes carry them deep into the Black Anthill. Occasionally ants will crowd around large foods to collect their bits to bring back to the anthill. Some permanently remain in the ant hill while others roam. If the number of Black Soldier Ants is reduced enough, Black Worker Ants lay Black Ant Eggs in the deeper chambers of the Black Anthill. When attacking, they have a normal bite, and a more charged bite that is easier to avoid, but does more damage.

Interaction With Player[]

The Black Worker Ant is neutral to the player, apart from in the sheds deck, and will become aggressive if the player attacks it, a different Black Ant spots another being attack, if it spots a player taking Black Ant Eggs, and will stay aggressive until the player runs far enough away or until it gets close to dying, at which point it will run away. While neutral to the player, Worker Ants chirp and act curious towards a nearby player. They will sometimes attempt to steal food from Roasting Spits, Storage Baskets and Storage Chests. Similarly, they steal food from unclaimed backpacks of fallen players. An icon is displayed on the container and a sound plays while the food is taken. When the player attacks them, they may run back to their anthills and signal other Black Soldier Ants to invade the area they were attacked.

They are always aggressive to the player while in the porch of the shed.

Interaction With Other Creatures[]

Worker Ants are passive to Black Soldier Ants who defend them when threatened by other creatures. Black Worker Ants actively hunt Weevils for food and bring their meat to their anthills. They will attack all Creatures that attack other Black Worker Ants and Black Soldier Ants. They are oddly passive and will actively defend Dust Mites, likley due to the fact they share similar spawns and to stop them from killing each other.

Advanced Loot Table[]

This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Black Worker Ant. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.

Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.

Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]

While Black Worker Ants attack the same way as Red Worker Ants, they do slightly more damage and have much more health. They are recommended to be killed with a level 5 tier 1 weapon, or more preferably, a good tier 2 weapon like the Stinger Spear to exploit their stabbing weakness. The Crow Crossbow or Insect Bow is also very effective, especially if the player can shoot them in the eye. It is recommended to fight them alone or in small groups for gathering their parts in the early game so the player doesn't get swarmed and easily killed.

Trivia[]

  • These ant are most likely based off the black garden ant as they forage for food and create dirt tunnel nests.
