The warning of a factional raid starting
Factional Raids are a variant of base defense like the MIX.Rs. They come as swarms of certain groups of Creatures that will attempt to wreak havoc on bases. These raids will only occur by purposefully attacking a certain group of insects. The mutation Guard Dog also increases the damage of the player during these raids. The raids will only happen if a base is reachable by the attacking faction, if the base is near a currently set respawn point such as a Lean-To, and has a significant amount of Base Buildings nearby.
Factional Raids won't appear for 6-9 days from a previous Factional Raid.
The player's world must be at least 10 days old for Factional Reactivity to start. Before day 10, the player cannot piss off any factions or receive any raids.
Raids cannot be triggered when underground, in a lab, or fighting any boss enemy.
Irritating the Wasp faction enough will cause the Brawny Boy Bin to open and Wasps to spread across the yard. This is the only faction that has a consequence beyond raids.
Factions[]
Factions are the key mechanic that influence the raids. Killing creatures that belong to each faction will encourage raids to possibly begin. Not all Creatures belong to a faction, meaning some creatures won't invade no matter how much the player kills or pesters them. Some creatures require specific conditions to also be met for them to spawn, the main two being sealing the Weed Killer and killing the Assistant Manager. The factions currently in-game include:

Faction Progression[]
Factions do not start difficult or with many attackers, instead working in a leveling system. These levels go from 1-10, with 10 having the highest quantity of creatures as well as more dangerous ones. A certain level of raid cannot happen until another has happened, meaning a level 1 raid needs to happen before a level 2 raid. The levels are shared with all faction types. The level of a raid will start to go up based on progression, with the main factors being:
- Completing labs.
- Crafting more advanced recipes.
- Base size.
- Material of the base.
Faction Enragement[]
Enragement Levels[]
As factions become enraged, different levels of enragement will appear on the side of the players screen. The first two levels merely serve as a warning, but the final level means that the player is capable of being raided by said faction.
Level | Message |
---|---|
![]() Aware |
"[Faction] are aware of your presence..." |
![]() Annoyed |
"[Faction] are annoyed by you..." |
![]() Want You Gone |
"[Faction] want you gone..." |
Basic Enragement[]
For a raid to occur, the player needs to do something that directly enrages the corresponding faction. The key source of enragement is killing members of that faction. Killing enough will eventually display a warning on the screen, which indicates that the player is close to starting a raid. Once the message "The *Faction* wants you gone" appears, the conditions are right for a raid to start at the players base.
Territories[]
Another source of enragement is being in factions territory. When in these areas factions will passively become much more angry. These areas include:
- Black Anthill or Shed Porch for Black Ants
- Brawny Boy Bin for Wasps
- Flooded Zone for Larvae and Mosquitos
- Haze or Infected Mini-Zones for Infected
- Hedge for Orb Weavers
- Ladybird Larva Burrow for Larvae
- Picnic Table for Bees
- Red Anthill or Old Anthill for Red Ants
- Termite Den for Termites
Waft Emitter[]
The final and most potent source of enragement is by using the Waft Emitter. By putting in parts of the faction and "wafting" them with the device, a raid will always occur regardless of current enragement. Putting a lot of parts or more valuable parts influences the amount and lethality of the raid. Along with this, mixing parts in the Waft Emitter of different factions will lead to a mixed faction raid.
Alternative Sources[]
- Picking up Black Ant Eggs enrages Black Ants.
- Picking up Fire Ant Eggs enrages Fire Ants.
- Orb Weavers are enraged when destroying Spider Webs, Web Sacs, or Black Widow Web Sacs.
- Killing Black Widows, Black Widowlings, the Hedge Broodmother, and Wolf Spider enrages Orb Weavers.
- Picking up Red Ant Eggs enrages Red Ants.
- Killing the Termite King enrages Termites.
- Disturbing or harvesting Small Wasp Hives enrages Wasps.
- Killing the Wasp Queen enrages Wasps.
Raid Attacks[]
Once a faction is suitably enraged, they will begin to attack the players nearest base. The player can tell when this happens by the words "Payback Has Arrived!" that appear on the right of the screen and the attacking faction below. Once this happens, a beacon will appear of where the insects will attack, and another beacon of about where they are approaching from. The creatures will spawn a set distance away, and will attempt to make it to the base. They tend to target Storage & Utilities more often than base structures. The raid's waves are shown by the ant heads in the "Payback Has Arrived!" symbol. Each head is about 1 wave, and as the waves lessen, so do the heads.
If the player doesn't manage to fend off the raid, the message "Payback delivered" will appear. If the player manages to kill all creatures invading and protect their base, a different message will appear to indicate that the base was defended. Creatures during these raids will mostly ignore the player and attack base structures. If they are attacked, they will retaliate. If they win, they will walk/fly away passively and eventually despawn.
Notes[]
- If the raid cannot reach the base, the raids will automatically end with a victory.
- Raids via ground-based creatures won't happen at a base if it is unreachable in any natural way.
- Flyers will still raid as normal if a base in unreachable from the ground.
