The Haze is a south-west biome of the backyard. Most of it is made of greenish yellow grass covered in a yellow haze coming from a hole in a weed killer canister. the canister can be seen from many meters away. To explore this biome without taking damage, the player must either equip a Gas Mask or carry a sizeable amount of Gastro Goo Smoothies for the +Gas Guard effect.
Overview[]
The Haze is a very dangerous biome full of a large blue fungus and multiple trenches. The creatures that wander in this area are infected versions of pre-existing creatures, most of which have explosive abilities. The area is full of explosive fungus patches and trenches that are full of valuable loot and many Infected Larva. These trenches have many precious resources such as Fresh Mints, Crow Feathers, Brittle Marble Shards, Brittle Quartzite Shards, and Milk Molars, but are some of the most dangerous sections of the biome. These trenches also hold one of few early game Supreme Marble and Supreme Quartzite in the lower yard. Along with this, naturally spawning dead carcasses of Stinkbugs, Red Worker Ants, and Bombardier Beetles will spawn in the area, but will only give one of their most common loot (stinkbug parts, red ant parts, bombardier parts).
Disabling The Gas[]
Though the gas of the biome is its most notorious property, it can be disabled permanently by plugging the leaking gas canister. To disable it, the player needs one Gum Nugget and must climb to the top of the canister. To do so, they need to walk on a twig that is leaning on the stairs to the porch, then climb on the nozzle of the canister. When on top, a small crack can be seen on the top leaking gas, and can be repaired by interacting with it. The effects of fixing the gas canister are as follows:
- Bur Weeds will begin to spawn.
- Infected creatures inside the Haze will begin to wander outside the biome more often.
- Smaller infected zones will begin to spread across the yard, being infested with infected creatures as well as Haze Fungus and Strange Spores. All locations include:
- Inside the Oak Tree
- The Flower Bed north of the Frankenline
- The north-eastern most corner of the stones lining the Koi Pond
- The Field Station near Trowel Gulch surrounded by Stinkbugs
- Inside the Red Anthill
- The group of Stinkbugs west of the Red Anthill
