Infected Gnats are a creature found flying in the Haze biome. They are technically passive, but can be a huge nuisance in the biome due to their special ability.
Behavior[]
Infected Gnats simply fly around in a certain area, not doing any specific goal or task when doing so. When seeing a target (only being players), they will "boop" them like their normal variants will. The catch is when they boop the player, they will drop whatever item they are holding onto the ground. Along with this, these creatures are a lot more relentless with their booping, and will aggressively continue to approach the player rather then leave. Despite this, the "attack" does not inflict any damage. However, during the Infected Broodmother fight, Infected Gnats will also blow up after a short period of time much like Infected Weevils after booping the player.
Interactions With Player[]
Infected Gnats are not technically aggressive towards the player, but act in an annoying way to the player. When they boop a player, they will drop whatever they are holding, leaving them open to more attacks from other creatures.
Interactions With Other Creatures[]
Infected Gnats do not engage with any other creatures except the player, even if they are infected or non-infected, they will simply ignore them.
Advanced Loot Table[]
This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Infected Gnat. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.
Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.
Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Spread[]
After sealing the weed canister in the Haze using a Gum Nugget, Infected Gnats will spread to multiple mini-infected zones across the map after a few days. They include:
- The Flower Bed north of the Frankenline
- The Field Station near Trowel Gulch surrounded by Stinkbugs
- In the Moldorc Highlands, underneath the small berry bushes
Strategy[]
Infected Gnats are easy to kill, only dying in a few hits from almost any form of combat, but ignoring them and prioritizing other infected insects is not a good idea. Infected Gnats should be prioritized in combat with other creatures to make sure that they aren't able to boop the player and leave them open to other attacks.
