The Infected Weevil is a mutated version of the Weevil found in the Haze biome. It is distinguished from regular Weevils by its purple eyes and the fungal growths across its back. It has a significantly larger health pool than normal Weevils.

Behavior[]

Infected Weevils roam aimlessly on the ground. If a perceived threat is spotted, they chase it. Infected Weevils move quicker than normal Weevils and may use their main attack, in which they will explode at very close range. They run into position before making several noises and charging the self-destruct. If hit during the charging of the explosion, the attack will be delayed and reset. Upon exploding, Infected Weevils are killed instantly.

Interaction With Player[]

The Infected Weevil is hostile toward the player. When the player is spotted, it runs to close the distance. When within range, it explodes in a small area, dealing damage to everything around it. Should players be caught in the blast, worn equipment and weapons will begin to degrade by around 10%, regardless of item health.

Interaction With Other Creatures[]

Infected Weevils are hostile to all other creatures and will detonate themselves when in combat, excluding other Infected Creatures, to whom they are neutral until one inadvertently damages the other.

Advanced Loot Table[]

This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Infected Weevil. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.

Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.

Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Normal[]

Item Count Chance
Fungal Growth 1 100%
Fungal Growth 1 1%
Mushroom Chunk 1 1%
Weevil Nose 1 30%
Weevil Nose 1 1%

Raid Variant[]

Item Count Chance
Fungal Growth 1 100%
Mushroom Chunk x2 1 1%
Toadstool Chunk 1 1%

Spread[]

After sealing the weed canister in the Haze using a Gum Nugget, Infected Weevils will spread to multiple mini-infected zones across the map after a few days. They include:

Strategy[]

Infected Weevils can be difficult to combat, but some strategies make it easier. If the player merely wants to kill it, they can simply walk close enough for it to prime and explosion and then sprint away from it's splash radius. If attempting to kill it for a BURG.L quest or other reason, the player should use bows or a high power weapon like the Red Ant Club to prevent it from first detonating itself.
