The Koi Fish is an aquatic creature found in the Koi Pond biome. It's the primary threat of this biome.

Behavior[]

The Koi Fish swims underwater in the Koi Pond. It follows a route from the water pagoda to the other side of the pond, within the area near some Stinkbugs and the Frankenline. It moves the large plant-life in the area similar to how larger Creatures move grass, and will commonly attack prey. The Koi is also blind in one eye, which is easily noticeable due to it's left eye being completely missing. It has two attacks, a quick bite and a slow eating attack which both instantly kill any creature caught within its jaws.

Interaction With Player[]

The Koi Fish is hostile to the player. When the player is spotted, it will swim towards the player and attempt to eat them. Scales can be collected from the Koi, with it being a 10% chance of dropping per attack. The Koi Fish can be distracted by Decoy Bait thrown by the player.

Interaction With Other Creatures[]

The Koi Fish will occasionally eat Tadpoles in the Koi Pond, instantly killing them on the spot. It doesn't intentionally eat other creatures.

Strategy[]

The Koi Fish cannot be killed and must be avoided at all costs when navigating the pond. It can be distracted using Decoy Bait, or the player can take advantage of its blind eye. If being chased, it is recommended to place Decoy Bait, or get to land as quickly as possible.

Notes[]

  • The Koi Fish does not have a normal creature card, only having a gold one the player automatically obtains.

Trivia[]

  • According to the poem on the back of HAMS Test Day 7, the Koi fish's name is Trudy II.
    • This name appears to be in reference to Wendell's wife, Trudy.
      • The fish's name could be a homage to the plant in the musical Little Shop of Horrors, which is named Audrey II, after a similar love interest in the namer's life.
  • According to the same poem, she lost her eye due to Wendell slapping her on the back to save her from choking on the Wedding Ring.
