The Mysterious Machine is a landmark found in the Grasslands biome. It is located on the trail near the Baseball.
It is the pad of the SPAC.R, the shrinking device developed by Dr. Wendell Tully. It must be activated to open the Oak Lab. It is also used to grow the player at the end of the game with conjunction with the Embiggening Cocktail.
Walkthrough[]
Early Game[]
When the player finds the machine, they must press the "target" button on the machine to make all the lasers target the machine. When pressed, only one laser is working. Another one is being obstructed while the other is blinking. The obstructed one is easily fixed by chopping the Grass that is blocking the laser. To fix the blinking laser, the player must reach the base of the laser and kill all the Lawn Mites chewing on the wire that feeds into a nearby cave. Once they are all killed, the player must go back to the machine and press "activate", which will cause the lasers to charge up and blast the machine. There is a malfunction that causes an explosion at the Oak Hill.
Late Game[]
After completing the JavaMatic and obtaining the Filled Embiggening Cocktail, the player must install the cocktail into a device pinned to the inside of the Mysterious Machine. After doing this, Wendell will ask to speak with the player. However, this isn't necessary for progression. All the player needs to do is target the lasers and fire them; identical to the start of the game. This will activate the last cutscene, ending the game.
