Orb Weaver Jrs are a smaller variant of Orb Weavers that can be found primarily throughout the Hedge, though can also be found in areas around the Oak Hill near their adult counterparts. They serve as a difficult, but easier alternative to Orb Weavers when entering their territories.

Behavior[]

Orb Weaver Jrs wander throughout their home area and will attack on sight. Unlike Orb Weavers, they will not produce webs or egg sacs, and they will not wander far from their mothers, unless giving chase. They have the same attacks as an Orb Weaver and move faster, although they are slightly weaker and do less damage. Their attacks have the chance to also poison targets, unlike their adult variants. They sleep next to their mothers, and will wake when interacted with or when a nearby egg sac is destroyed.

Interactions with the Player[]

The Orb Weaver Jr is aggressive to the player and will attempt to chase them throughout the lab. Unlike Orb Weavers, they cannot web the player.

Interactions with Other Creatures[]

Orb Weaver Jrs are passive towards Spiderlings, Orb Weavers, and the Hedge Broodmother during her fight. They also will attack TAYZ.Ts found throughout the lab, but may have trouble attacking them.

In the Upper Grasslands, Orb Weaver Jrs are much more active. They will roam farther and will attack most common creatures, such as Fire Worker Ants, Ladybird Larvae, and Ladybirds. They will also chase after Aphids (however unfruitful, as they are unable to budge grass, should the Aphid take shelter on it). For other creatures, they are neutral unless attacked.

Advanced Loot Table[]

This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Orb Weaver Jr. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.

Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.

Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]

Orb Weaver Jrs have the same attacks as their adult variants, but may be confusing due to their less range and their lacking of some attacks. They can easily be killed with a tier 1 weapon due to their lesser health. All of their attacks can also be blocked like ordinary Orb Weavers, and they also lack the web attack the adults have.

Triva[]

  • Orb Weaver Jrs inflicting Poison may be based on the myth that most venomous reptile babies like snakes don't know how to regulate their venom and end up injecting large amounts than normal.
    • This phenomenon is not seen in spiders normally, in fact spiderlings have less potent venom then adults.
    • It is also a myth venomous babies actually inject less venom because they have smaller venom glands.
