Rotten Food is a resource harvested from larger food nodes found across the yard, especially in the Trash Heap biome. Additionally, when meals spoil they turn into Rotten Food. It can also be obtained as a rare drop from Meaty Gnats.
If eaten, it gives the Sick effect that drains 7.5 health every 3 seconds for 15 seconds, losing a total of 37.5 health.
This resource has limited usefulness, but can be used in the Garden Patch as a fertilizer to increase the "Green Thumb" effect.
