Upper Yard Caverns are a group of caves similar to Caverns, but are found across the upper portions of the Backyard. These caves are much harder than the caverns of the lower yard, with a good majority either being full of deadly foes or dedicated to a puzzle of some form.
List of Upper Yard Caverns[]
Black Widow Cave |
---|
The Black Widow Cave is a small cave located near the bottom right most corner of the shed's porch, located under a Cracked Rock on the side of a small overhang. It contains one of 4 Black Widow spawns as well as a Milk Molar. Overview[]The cave is blocked by a Cracked Rock, so it requires a Bratburst, Splatburst, or Bomb Arrow to open it. Inside is a small, empty room with a hole in the floor and an unreachable area above with a Milk Molar. The hole leads directly to the bottom of the cave, full of Black Widowlings and a singular Black Widow. There is also Supreme Marble in this room. Past this room is a hallway that leads upwards to the Milk Molar overhang that leads back to the start of the cave. |
Bomb Cave |
---|
The Bomb Cave is a small cave located in the Upper Grasslands, inside the large exposed pipe surrounded by Toadstools. It is a very short, puzzle-like cave. Overview[]The cave is blocked by Dead Roots, meaning the player needs a tier 3 chopping tool to access it. The cave has two paths. One is a waterway that leads to a dead end, and the other is a small opening to a blocked section of the cave with a large rock in the middle. To get into that section, the player needs to use a Bomb Arrow or a well thrown Splatburst to explode the rock. Once exploded, the waterway will lead into the room. The room is full of Sturdy and Supreme variants of both rocks and a Milk Molar. |
Jack Ball Cave |
---|
The Jack Ball Cave is a small cave located in the Upper Grasslands inbetween the dead hamster skeleton and the Field Station in the middle of the area. Overview[]The area is meant to serve as an elaborate puzzle, with some Supreme Marble and a Milk Molar located on unreachable cliffs. To reach them, the player needs to knock the large jack ball onto the floor and roll on top of it to jump to the cliffs. This has to be done twice due to the Milk Molar and marble being on two different shelves. |
Ladybird Larva Cave |
---|
The Ladybird Larva Cave is a dangerous but rewarding subterranean area, with its most accessible entrance located beneath the Northern Grassland Field Station, exiting into the Upper yard to the North East. Overview[]The main entrance to the burrows is located below the Field Station in the Northern Grasslands. This entrance may have some Ladybird Larvae in it, but it is unlikely. It will lead to an area with hole leading to a large room with light coming from above, or a hallway to the left, but both lead to that room. This area is full of Ladybird Larvae, making it very dangerous. In this room is an area locked by Dead Roots. In this small room is some Quartzite nodes. To the left of the entrance of the light room is a small crawlspace the player can crouch under. This leads to a large room filled with more larvae. This room also has many Marble nodes to harvest for Brittle Marble Shards and Sturdy Marble Shards, as well as a Milk Molar on a nearby cliff. To the direct right of the entrance is another tunnel filled with larvae. This leads to two paths, the left path has an exit into the Shed Surroundings and the forward path is blocked by more Dead Roots. This room blocked by roots is full of Marble nodes for harvesting. The 2nd entrance exits the player near the Samsquanch Dirt Bike. |
Termite Cave |
---|
The Termite Cave is a small cave system located in the Shed Surroundings' trenches, near the 2 Black Ox Beetle spawns. It has some loot similar to the Termite Den, such as Wooden Splinters, Upgrade Rocks, and Termite Workers. Overview[]The cave's entrance is located at the bottom of the western trenches of the Shed Surroundings. Its main entrance leads to two paths, the left path leads to a dead end with many Termites. The right path is blocked by a Cracked Rock, and requires a bomb to open it. This leads to a upwards path and rooms full of more Termites, making it very dangerous. At the end is a room full of upgrade rocks and a hole in the floor. The hole leads back to the dead end, but to an unreachable cliff above it. On this cliff is an abandoned Lean-To, some Fiber Bandages, a Mega Milk Molar, and some notes on an Ominent employee.
